14K "Longhair" Pendant by Watson Honanie
About the Artist: Watson Honanie, a Hopi jeweler, was born in 1953 at South Rim, Grand Canyon. He is Bear Clan and has eleven siblings. After his father died, his family moved to Shungopavi on Hopi's Second Mesa. Encouraged by his brother Philip Honanie and by Fred Kabotie, Watson learned silver overlay at the Hopi Arts and Crafts Guild. In the 1980s, Watson became the first Native American silversmith to combine gold and silver in the same jewelry overlay design. His designs portray Hopi culture and ceremonial life.
