About the Artist: Don Platero is a third-generation Navajo Diné silversmith. He was educated in government boarding schools and attended high school in Gallup, NM. His father, Don Platero, taught him the craft of silversmithing. The name "Platero" means "silversmith" in Spanish. Platero's work includes silver jewelry, dinnerware, server sets, bridles and other custom pieces. His stamped flatware continues an early tradition of Diné silverwork.
