About the Artist: Jimmy Poyer was born in 1954 near Mexican Hat, NM. After graduting high school, he spent 23 years touring as the lead guitarist and singer in his country western band. Jimmie Harrison, a well-known Diné inlay jeweler, played rhythm guitar in his band and taught Poyer jewelry-making after they stopped touring. Poyer, known for his inlay bear designs, makes his jewelry from sheet silver, wire, and natural stones.
