About the Artist: (b. 1954), a Dinè silversmith, grew up in White Cone, AZ, and attended various BIA boarding schools before graduating from Santa Fe's Institute f American Indian Art. He was taught painting by ONalee Loloma, sculpture by Alan Houser, and jewelry by Skip Holbrook. He learned to work with gold and platinum while working for a Scottsdale, AZ jewelry store. In 1982, Nelson began his solo career, creating jewelry with geometric silver and gold overlay designs reminiscent of Navajo rug patterns. He lives in Flagstaff, AZ.
