About the Artist: Pete Johnson is a Diné jewelry maker who grew up between Kayenta and Pinon, AZ. His mother wove Navajo rugs to support Pete and his nine siblings. In between construction wok, Pete learned silversmithing from Al Joe and Pete's adopted father Thomas Curtis. Johnson works in a variety of jewelry styles from vintage to modern, stamped silver to silver shaped by hammering from the reverse side and geometric patterns in silver to twisted silver wire settings for turquoise stones.
