Turquoise Mountain Turquoise and Sterling Silver Necklace by Victor Coochwytewa

Artist: Victor Coochwytewa (1922-2011) specialized in Hopi gold and silver overlay jewelry and started making jewelry in 1940 with Paul Saufkie. After a brief hiatus due to his service in WWII in the South Pacific theatre, he continued making jewelry with Paul Saufkie and Fred Kaboite; teaching jewelry crafting classes to veterans. Victor became one of the most well known second generation overlay artists and has won many awards from notable shows around the Southwest.
