About the Artist: Alice Cling was born in 1946 at Cow Springs, AZ. Her mother, Rose Williams, taught pine pitch pottery-making to Alice, her sisters Susie Crank and Sue Ann Williams, and sister-in-law, Lorraine Williams. The Cling family digs the clay near Black Mesa. The pots are hand-coiled, covered with pine sap, and smoothed with a stone before outdoor firing.
