Details: Using the remarkable beauty of the Ponderosa pine forest and landscape surrounding the museum, this workshop offers participants of all experience levels an opportunity to take in the extraordinary beauty around them, then turn their observations into powerful and vivid poems. The workshop includes a guided nature walk with museum horticulturist Jan Busco.Using celebrated examples of both traditional and contemporary poetry, we’ll discuss techniques such as metaphor, imagery, sound and allusion as well as introducing basic techniques for creating musicality within a poem. Participants will work either outside in nature (weather permitting) or inside the museum with sweeping views of the Colorado Plateau. Limited to 15 people.
